A.Nomsa is an intentional community dedicated to restoring the homeless and raising awareness about homelessness throughout our world. We seek to answer the question, "Who is my neighbor?" and live accordingly (read more).
Q. What's in the name?
A. Take a look at the story. Nomsa is a Siswati/Zulu word that means, "Open heart".
Q. Are you a nonprofit organization and do you have your 501(c)(3)?

A.Yes. Nomsa was incorporated as a nonprofit organization April 2008 in the state of Florida (although the story began much earlier.) We received our IRS 501(c)(3) approval November 2008, retroactive to our incorporation date.

Q: What makes Nomsa different than other homeless outreaches?

A.Nomsa is not just about food, although food is provided at all of our programs. It's about creating sustainable life and rehabilitating the homeless. Nomsa is focused on community, we are working to implement sustainable programs that seek to resolve the issue of homelessness in the United States, on a large and long term scale.
Q: Where does the money go?

A.All of Nomsa’s funds directly support our operational expenses (website, vehicles, etc.) and ministry costs (food, clothing, laundry, supplies, etc.). At this time, all of Nomsa’s workers are unpaid volunteers. Money donated goes directly to cover the costs of the community event needs such as food & transportation for all events, laundry day costs – use of the Laundromats, food, transportation, detergent, etc. As well as events such as this year’s Blanket Drive, and programs in the making {such as working toward a community house, job training, programs to fill prescriptions, and more}.
Q. Is Nomsa a “Christian” organization?

A.Yes. Although we don’t want to label ourselves as anything or exclude anyone, (we’re
here to love genuinely: to be His hands & feet.) We are very honest about the fact that our team, our heart, and everything that we do is because of Jesus and His love and grace. At our core, our purpose is shaped by the life, teachings, and heart of Jesus. -

We do everything with the intention of glorifying His name and living out genuine love, letting His love overflow from our open hearts and into this broken world.

A.Nomsa is not affiliated with any specific denomination or church. We have churches that
volunteer groups and partner with us for programs and support, but we are simply a faith based team focused on Christ.
